If you know a regime, political (eg, tyranical despot) or religious, is oppressive, totalitarian and causes suffering and harm (eg, children dying who need emergency blood transfusions, paedophile's not getting ousted from congregation because there weren't 'two witnesses', families being divided up and suicides from total shunning), then it is quite morally and ethically arguable to wish for the demise of such a regime, including the leaders of that regime.

37 years later, I finally got the CULT thing
by Freedom77 inhi all, just happened to come across this site again after 10 or 12 years - i see some old posts of mine under a diff username (can't reopen the account, forgot the freakin' password).
i left the borg in 1977, age 21, haven't looked back but every now and then i am amazed to find there's some old, old attitude from the jw days that i find is still clinging to my pants leg like a stray sticker.. looking over some of the posts here and some linked ex-jw sites yesterday it finally hit me - it is an effing cult.
when i was in, we were always accused of being that, so naturally we totally spouted the society's line and got all defensive, etc.

She produced great videos, love her calm and intelligent demeanour. Very empowering, especially for sisters wanting to find the courage to leave. Every little youtube clip and blog, website DOES help someone, somewhere and is another drop in the bucket to weaken the power and stranglehold of this doomsday cult.

The Sept 15 WT " Are You Convinced That You Have The Truth? Why?
by BluesBrother inthis article title leapt out at me and i thought that at last we may see some solid argument as to why the wt teaches what it does, some "reasoning on the scriptures ".. well... the theme scripture set a good scene, being rom 12.2 " prove to yourself the good and acceptable and perfect will of god" .
ok , let's prove it - logically.. the article starts by citing the witnesses neutrality and refusal to bear arms as a reason to believe.
now i happen to agree with that stand , but is it unique to j w's ?

Doesn't the article mention anything about their basic core doctrines on the trinity, soul, hell, etc, as being the main reason why they have 'da troof'? In other words, their claimed lack of all 'Babylonish, pagan-derived' doctrines? In all my 40 or so years as an active borg those were the things I usually mentally fell back on that made me think they were right.
I always new the Christadelphians also rejected the trinity, immortal soul, hellfire, but then I distinguished my religion as being superior to the Christadelphians because the latter were tiny in comparison and far less international than the JW.s We would expect Jehovah to have a large, international 'congregation' of people preaching worldwide, I reasoned to myself.
Fallacious reasoning I know, but that's the bottom line of how many JW's think.

'Search' function doesn't show thread dates in results
by yadda yadda 2 insimon, if you use the search function for a topic or word, you cannot separate out the latest threads on a particular subject from the oldest.. if i wanted to read the latest threads and discussion on the subject of, say, 'generation' i get a huge list of threads with that word in the heading or contents but i cannot tell how old each thread is unless i actually open up the thread.
i don't want to be reading threads that are 5 or 10 years old on a subject like that.. can the date of the threads be shown in search results please.
also, can a function be added to order results chronologically, from newest to oldest.

How do I know whether the latest big discussion on the forum can be found in the first few pages of Search results? There is no clear logic or criterion apparent in how search results are ordered? Is it based on the number of posts or hits?

Is this a new "This Generation" or not?
by Doug Mason infirst of all i want to express my sincere gratitude to atlantis and his good friends for making this 2014 book available.. ------------.
as i see it, and i am absolutely open to contradiction, the wts appears to be giving another new meaning to this generation.
this time the term means all of his anointed followers, including his immediate disciples.

Yes, its new light, because if you measure the distance in millimetres between 1914 and the old dude in dark red who did (presumably around 1992-1994 typified by Fred Franz), then you can measure the distance in millimitres from that old dead dude to the next line that says "Destruction of Babylon the Great" you can calculate the approximate year the great tribulation will start! LOL!
This absolutely disgusting and ridiculous overlapping generation doctrine is the final nail in the coffin to prove it is nothing but a twisting, lying, devious cult. It's just so absolutely obvious that it is a purely artificial, contrived lot of self-serving nonsense so far removed from what Jesus meant it is laughable. How anyone with a shred of intellectual honesty in the Watchtower organisation can continue to give their loyal support to the organisation after this just shows that JW's don't love truth.

Churchill did not say that about China, he said it about Russia, and to be more precise: "It is a riddle wrapped in a mystery inside an enigma"

Did the GB ever receive new light without the passage of time forcing it upon them?
by Zoos in1914 did not bring the end they were hoping for so new light shone down from above and corrected their understanding.. 1925 also led to unfulfilled expectations and so new light was bestowed.. .
(i could go through all the dates and expectations... but i won't.).
what if the new light about 1914 being the year that christ returned was provided before 1914?

Kings, despots, cult leaders and crackpots....eventually they all must learn the hard lessons of OLD FATHER TIME....who has been patiently trying to teach the Watchtower cult leaders for so long now, but alas, they refuse to listen...and so they must learn the hard way...

Why Do Jehovah's Witnesses Reject The Bible's Example Concerning Baptism

Look, you don't understand. The GB are a divine channel between God and men and if Jehovah chooses to use them to teach us new things not revealed in scripture then who are we to argue?
And you're forgetting that the organisation is the earthly part of the kingdom of God on earth. Those GB guys are our future anointed rulers and the organisation IS the kingdom on earth. It's our ark of salvation, so its proper that JW's get baptized into it.
Here's a scripture to prove we must be baptised into the organisational Ark for salvation:
"For Christ also died for sins once for all, the just for the unjust, in order that He might bring us to God, having been put to death in the flesh, but made alive in the spirit; 19 in which also He went and made proclamation to the spirits now in prison, 20 who once were disobedient, when the patience of God kept waiting in the days of Noah, during the construction of the ark [ark = the ORGANISATION], in which a few, that is, eight persons, were brought safely through the water. 21 And corresponding to that, baptism now saves you--not the removal of dirt from the flesh, but an appeal to God for a good conscience--through the resurrection of Jesus Christ, 22 who is at the right hand of God, having gone into heaven, after angels and authorities and powers had been subjected to Him." ( 1 Pet. 3:18-22, NASB )

Singapore's Pink Dot celebration
by fulltimestudent ina few years ago i had an opportunity to discuss the situation for gay people in singapore with a gay chinese man from that country.
he told me that despite the fact that the singapore government persisted in retaining an old british law that criminalised male to male sex, and that the government banned any normal method of protest, that gay people in this small (essentially just one city on a small island) had decided not to use western methods (i.e.
as used by gay groups in western countries) but to basically use a large picnic to celebrate their sexuality.. this was the first i'd heard of what has become known as singapore's pinkdot.. starting very small it has grown.
